Consider the Zered

It's a shame that we don't get to see 'year in review' considerations for more skaters than the select few up for Thrasher Magazine's Skater of the Year.
Zered Bassett, for instance, had quite the 2013. He gained a new shoe sponsor, was featured on a Transworld cover, did a few tricks switch that would be incredibly gnarly if done regular, and managed to defy gravity on two separate occasions (see photos below). Not a bad year for a guy who didn't even put out a full video part. Add to this that many of these tricks were executed on crusty spots along the Eastern seaboard and it becomes clear that 2013 was a good year indeed for the man known as Dr. Z.

This is a quarterpipe I often skate like it's a quarterpipe. You know, stalls & grinds. Zered got 5 feet of air off it. Not sure where this photo is from originally.

While others put out some very respectable footage this past year, Zered has spent 2013 doing some seriously game changing skateboarding. Hats off to a Zered for a stellar performance in 2013, and with the recent announcement of part in the upcoming Transworld video it looks like 2014 will be a good one as well for Mr. Bassett.
